guns + butter Pop Up Restaurant
Named after the economic model, bringing attention to our nations spending habits, hoping for more butter and less weapons.
In 2012, after school, fellowship, three Michelin star training at Jean Georges, and food styling for editorial, ad campaigns, and tv shows including Martha Stewart, Oprah, Food & Wine, and Nate Berkus Show I entered the entrepreneur world where I joined a small group of disruptors in SF, LA, and NY, and we launched the “pop up restaurant.” In concert with Roy’s food truck movement in LA, we created an upward mobility model that provided a lot of young talented chefs with less a way to self realization and generational wealth. I cooked the narrative of Detroit, and shared my delights, my decisions, hoping to transform the hearts of global citizens, shifting the singular story of despair; consisting of violence, financial bailout, and blight to joyful creations, Motown soul, and local diners where communities often gathered, and we occupied parking garages, retail spaces, art galleries, abandoned theaters, lofts, restaurants, and bars, and every dish had a story to tell and each bite became the classroom to share the love of a family. We were very fortunate to bring the good news of Detroit throughout the world, including Detroit’s Eastern Market, Downtown, Corktown, & Midtown, New York’s SoHo, Brooklyn, TriBeCa, & East Village, India’s Mumbai & Alibaug, Dubai, Los Angeles, and Singapore.
